I went on a interview. On my way in the receptionist greeted me warmly and told me not to be nervous that the interviewer ( VP of the dept.) was harmless. The interview began well with some light general conversation about my week. They asked many questions but none of them seemed to be doubting of my experience. They verbally acknowledged alot of my answers as " making alot of sense" and "excellent". They asked me when i could start at the end but we didn't talk about the salary and benefits (salary was however left on my voicemail prior to the interview.)

At the end, I made the move to shake everyone's hands (something they seemed to forget in our general conversation on the way out) and the VP walked me out and told me that there were just two more interviews. She handed me her card and told me if I had any questions, to email or call and they should decide by wednesday afternoon. Was this a good interview? If so, why?

Well, you didn't say they asked for your references, that is usually the clincher to know you are in the running. But smiling and nodding while you are answering is a good indicator too and you only have affirmations did they smile?

Escort out (this is common), and you never discuss salary until a job offer is proffered, so that is no big deal and the handshake, well neither here nor there.

As I see it you have affirmations, deadline for decision, and the mention of 2 more interviews if you succeed, I think you can feel confident that the next person will look at you.

Not necessarily. Most good employers, will have 3-4 candidates to interview for professional positions. You can tell if the interview went bad, but not usually know if it went well. If everyone is qualified, the employer won't tip their hand in case the person they make the first offer to turns it down. My guess is you met the goals of being qualified and fitting in with the team. But, the other interviewees might, too.

Signs of a good interview usually include being given a card so you can call and ask questions and walking you around to meet the rest of the staff. You would at least be in the top 3.

i dont agree with the one person who said if they dont hire you on spot it didnt go well.. My job this is my 5th day and I had my interview on March 28th and the person who called to set up the interview did a telephone interview with me and then she said i was the top candidate and that I was supposed to have my interview on the 26th but the gal supposed to interview me was out sick and the same thing they said they would be making a descion next week and I called on Monday following April 2nd and again on April 3rd and then I got a call back on the 4th and started on the 9th of April so you never can tell actually my best bet would be to call them a few days after the interview to do a follow up.. The thing I hate is when they dont call you back... To tell you anything..

If it has long gone nicely then you would be presented the interest there and then. they're going to delve deeper into your desires interior the interest and start to barter them so as that they may well be presented interior the formal letter of grant. If there are extra to interview when then you they're going to propose which you're relatively the single yet might desire to work out the others. they might ask you to attend on an identical time as the different interviews are dealt with. while you're asked to fulfill yet another member of the administration once you're there and consistent with probability shown the place you would be working.

The VP knows he can not make a decision before he has talked to all candidate but when you are in his position you generally get a feel for things and know when you got the right candidate, so I would be positive and maybe treat myself to an extra pint tonight.

Not really. If you were not offered a job on the spot, I'd say it didn't go well.
