You can spin it however you want, but either way it's a slippery slope.

You know, its funny. Everytime I see a liberal and/or someone in the media attack what Newt said, they never include the full quote. At most you get the same two sentence quote that's been circulating around that says we need to get "ahead of the curve."

Wow, how dare he. "Ahead of the curve," that's so un-American. That's like, anti 1st Ammendment.

You already have limits on your freedom of speech. Threaten to kill someone, you could easily face legal trouble. Walk up to the 6' 8" biker in the corner of the bar and make derogatory remarks about his wife, you could easily end up in the hospital.

If you'd take the time to read the entire transcript, I know, impossible, you'd see Newt was pointing out that the current sentiment in this country is that phone conversations, emails, instant messages, etc should be completely private. If they are, they're perfect tools for terrorists. He believes there needs to be some mechansim in place, just like wire taps, to prevent or punish terrorist for using those lines of communication.

You can disagree with him, that's fine. But to take the standard two-sentence quote and repeat it as an attack on the 1st Ammendment is lazy and intellectually dishonest.

And try to listen to more than just a blog on CBS.com....your brain cells will thank you.

Why and fall pawn into their hands? They want us to change our ways. We are free and yes we have people that say atrocious things that I strongly disagree with but I have the right to make my voice heard. That's why we have places like this to voice our opinions.

Why not? It's been abolished on college campuses all over the country so the little dears never have to hear words that make them FEEL bad. You know, like nappy-haired hos. Oh, boo-hoo, I FEEL so bad that a moron would say such a thing - WHAT WILL I DO?!?

It should be clear to anyone and everyone by now that Newt is an hypocritical, racist idiot. Who cares what he thinks, says, or does.

I can think of nothing on which we should take Newt Gingrich's advice.

It sounds to me like gingrich's statement was taken out of context for liberal media gain.
