She is right, Scotland uses the British Pound, however, unlike the rest of the United Kingdom, Scottish banks produce their own money. Specifically, the Bank of Scotland, The Royal Bank of Scotland and The Clydesdale Bank produce their own money. If you are also going to England, some English shopkeepers will not accept notes not drawn on the Bank of England.
