With my experience, I also have had problems gaining weight. I was always underweight when I was pregnant with my first and I ate all the time (chips, cookies, pizza, etc) I have found that for some reason, I gain weight when I don't eat a lot and the more I eat the less I weigh. I guess it's just the way my metabolism works. So, if you're like me, don't starve!!! Maybe you can go see a doctor who specializes in metabolism or just your regular doctor to find out what healthy ways to gain weight. This looks like I good thing to read, since it's focusing on still being healthy!!

I have the same problem. It comes from having a fast metabolism. I would suggest eating more and eating more fatty foods. I haven't really been successful with my weight gaining attempts BUT I have gained about 5 pounds over the past year.

If your inability to gain weight stems from a fast metabolism like me, I think the only real way to gain weight and keep the weight on is time. I've tried eating A LOT of food but it just ended up coming out faster. In the end, as I've gotten older the weight just comes. And eventually, your metabolism will slow down and you will definitely be missing the days you wanted to gain 10 pounds.

Have you always been thin or has it been something recent? Because if this has just happened recently it could be because of hyperthyroidism.

Nicole,

The unfortunatel thing is that is sounds like you have a speed matching metabolism. That means what ever you eat, your body burns....

However, if you can find a place to do a Resting Metabolic test for you, then they can tell you how many calories a day you should eat to gain weight. However, be forewarned: if you DO have a speed matching metabolism, it will be VERY hard for you to gain weight!

If you want more info, email me!!!

Good luck!
