I have to get a new fence. My old spruce fence is falling down. PVC fencing looks nice and lasts a long time (or so Ive heard). Ive never had PVC before. Its expensive. Not sure if I should buy it or just go with spruce.

Anyone here have PVC and any advice. Also, if I go with the PVC, any tips or precautions?

If you can afford it, I would go with a pvc/vinyl fence.

While it is more expensive up front, I think it would save you money in the long run if you plan on staying where you are long term. Vinyl fences are virtually maintenance-free, elminating the hassle of painting, scraping and sanding and the cost of replacing warped or rotted sections. They are ideal for all climates and generally won't corrode, peel, flake or discolor. At the most, you might have to pressure wash it once in a while.

Neighbor is getting one in 2 weeks. Others in the neighborhood have gotten the fence and it looks good all the time. There is no maintenance on it. I know it costs more upon installation, but if you factor in all the years of painting and repairs, I think in the long run it will be cheaper and look better than with the wood. I of course, have the wood, and the backache of having to maintain it. Good luck

PVC vinyl fence can be an important part of comfort and lifestyle. This type of fencing helps to protect your children, to some extent, from strangers.

If your in a usda zone 4 or 5 and you won't get anything near it when it's below freezing, your OK PVC snaps easy when it's cold

The fencing is beautiful and expensive; however, no maintenance supposedly. If you see a yard with this type of fencing, stop and ask the owner if they like it.
