Imus was thrown under the bus by his own industry.
sex and race sells news. this had racial overtones and the news ran with it.
did anyone actually even hear him say that?? imus had no ratings, he has said the same things for 20+ yrs..why the outrage now?

As far as I'm concerned this was not a racial issue. There were white girls on that team to and he was referring to the whole team not just one. I think it's a load of crap that they fired him for that!! But yet it's OK for people like al sharpton and jesse jackson to get on TV and talk about how bad black people have it and that's not racist?! Let me guess, it's always the white mans fault and it always will be, right? WHATEVER!
Has no one else taken a step back and looked at society lately? There is still segregation, and no, it's not the whites doing it this time. Look at all the "black" colleges and the "black" churches.
America needs to get a grip and quit walking on egg shells for a certain race!!

In any event his punishment was way to harsh. A mild rebuke would be in order, not ruining a person livelihood.
As the poster just ahead of me said: it's a matter of money. Rappers get away with a lot of sexist comments; nobody does anything about this because of the large number of dollars the recording companies take in.

It is sad, but there are a helluva lot more black folk who are out to hurt white folk for minor and/or imagined offences, while they turn a blind eye to blacks for committing the same and much worse offences.
It's arrogance, ignorance and hatred. These things have been embraced by black American culture, and will be part and parcel of our mutually assured destruction as a nation.

Al Sharpton has done a great job helping black people who are not in a position to financially fight against racism.
Your racism is blinding you from the truth regarding the situation, therefore you are looking for rationalisations to be racist. You need to calm down and reducate yourself both spiritually and historically.

Imus would still have his job if he was black.
For some odd reason, it's ok to verbally abuse
your own kind.
