Nope, you can fill it in, as long as he signed it

You are most fortunate that you happen to be the payee (as is the chap who wrote it!), as anyone could have got hold of the cheque and filled their name in! It is quite all right for you to fill in your own name. If the bank has any query it will take it up with the person concerned, but I don't think that this is likely to happen.

That's fine. Fill it in yourself. As long as the cheque is signed by the right person the rest can be filled out by anyone.

That is fine to bank. It makes sense to complete the cheque with the same color pen though.

It's okay, no worries, just make the cheque out to me and send to the following address...

That's happened to me many a time. I just fill my name in myself. Sometimes I've done it in the bank in front of the teller. There will be no problem.

yes mate, thats the idea, so you can put who the cheque is to, rather than the other guy getting it wrong

They should not do but you can always make it out to "cash" as long as it's signed correctly it will be ok. Good idea to take ID with you if you write your own name.

mmm depends on the cashier and the bank. just go to a branch where you are well know and it should be fine if you fill it in yourself.

It's fine for you to put your own name on it, then you can pay it into your account.

Before credit/debit cards became so popular most stores used a rubber stamp to put the stores name where it says Pay .............

So it is not a problem.
