I would pick neither. People do not understand that to be a democrat or a republican means to stand on the platform set for each party. the lines have crosses and crossed so many times that I get cross eyed trying to keep up with what ea person saying that what they believe in is a Republican however it does not mesh with the republican platform or vice versa.
I am an independent and will search out the voting record that this country needs. I believe no more is there really the two party system as it once stood.

I never learned that Adam and Eve rode dinosaurs. And going to war? We're helping people back up on their feet and protecting them. The rich have to get rich one way or another, right? Most have big businesses, which give people jobs, and when the rich are taken care of, we are taken care of by getting jobs, helping boost the economy. I am neither Democrat or Republican, it depends on the candidate and their issues.

hmmmm. I think that maybe your description of the parties are exaggerated. I can totally feel your pain in our two party system though. I'm a democrat, and like most people don't know, the majority of democrats do not support free welfare. Bill Clinton actually installed the limitations that there are now on welfare where you can only be on for so long and you have to actually prove that you are interviewing and training for a job. I think that the democrats care more about the common middle class man (most of them, every group has a few nutjobs). I like John Edwards for the next election, he's a trustworthy family man, with an incredible voting record that shows that he cares for the middle class. I don't like Hilary though, something about her has always rubbed me the wrong way....

Republican. Although I disagree with some of the things that they've been doing lately, particularly with border security. I disagree that the Republicans only help the super rich. They tend to allow the super rich to help themselves. If you want to be super rich, you should be more than welcome to be so- so long as you don't hurt others in the process. Besides, most of us work for someone who is super rich. Without them we would have no jobs. The freedom to attempt to become rich is a part of a fundamental freedom that we have in the US. Also, keep in mind that the Bush administration has done FAR more...I'll say it again, FAR MORE than any previous administration, INCLUDING CLINTON'S, to fight corporate fraud. If you don't believe me, than you're choosing to ignore the facts. Think Enron and a ton of others that did not make headlines.
As far as the war is concerned, we had a million reasons to take down Saddam. The WMD's that Saddam shipped to Seria in the summer of '02 is just one reason. Here's another fact that people choose not to believe. Our policy toward Iraq was officially moved to "regime change"- not done under Bush but under Clinton in 1998. Check the facts, it's true. That's not good information to know if are a short-memoried Bush hater/Clinton lover.

This is the exact reason that I am neither. I'm a registered Green.
However, I have had to pick between the 2 simply because a green candidate wasn't running or really had no hope of winning, such as in a presidential election. I then, chose Democrat simply because it is the lesser of 2 evils. I do get a lot of backlash from my own party claiming that I should vote for who I want to and not the lesser of 2 evils, however, I was part of that 2% in 2000 that voted for Nader. I honestly believe that 2% is what made Bush win. Now, I don't like Gore either, but he's a hell of a lot better than Bush!!!

What dusty antique store did you get your party stereotypes at? Most of the clods in the government are not really Republicans or Democrats. They are more of a sort of Republicrat or Demican thing these days. No matter who you elect, you get more government stomping of your rights and higher taxes to pay for the increased oppression.

noooooo.... You are so off on this one. We are not here picking sides because of some clique. We (as republicans) know what will happen if the Dems get the power they are seeking. They will make a mess out of the country that we love. We (US fighting men and women) have laid our lives on the line to protect the way of life that we love. We are not about to sit down and let them take it away from us.

Right now, I'd pick the Democrats, just because the Republicans have done such a great job of effing things up in the past few years. But I choose neither and never will. Neither party can be trusted because they both sold their souls long ago to special interests. Can you say, lobbyists?

This is a good question, I prefer the Rep because they are more conservative, but the Dem are the one's who have made a difference in my life such as helping me get into a good college, jobs, and scholarships. You also state some good points, it's a good and hard questions. Maybe you should make your own new party.
