I don't know, but I thought it was funny as hell when Chef (Issac Hays) quit because they insulted Scientology. Was no problem when they were insulting other religions....f*ing hypocrite.

Actually it was 162 times and they can do what ever they want. It is probably the highest grossing show ever in the network's history. So,they aren't going to tell them they can't do something and risk the makers stopping production. Did you see the Critter Christmans Special from 2004, far more risque than saying the "S" word 162 times, it had the antichrist, blood orgies, and Santa blowing away satanic woodland critters. And I'm sure they will find some way to shock the pants off us again!

clearly none of you watch or listen to Imus. He's been a shock jock for 30 years, 3 hours a day. He mixes trashy humor that makes fun of EVERYBODY in the news just like South Park. And he interviews mainstream politicians and journalists. His politics is moderate liberal. His audience is educated and moderate to left leaning. The quotes you read are cherry picked to make him look horrible, when his show is unscripted 3 hours of talk, of course he'll misspeak sometimes, but there is no group singled out. If children listened to Imus they'll of learned much more than stupid jokes or shallow analogies like South Park, they'll of heard serious interviews with the likes of Bill Clinton, Bob Dole, Tim Russert, Iraq war correspodents.
You are grossly misinformed and maligning Imus to lump him with Howard Stern or Conservative trash Talk (same as hate speech IMO)

What's it going to take to get it through your head that this was NOT about free speech. Imus lost all his sponsors and was bring down a lot of heat onto both CBS and NBC - hence they fired him. People who buy advertising time on South Park know what they are getting. South Park started out vulgar. Don Imus only got vulgar after he was continuously cast into Howard Stern's shadow.
btw, Ashley Woods' artwork sucked hard on Ghost Rider 2099

Southpark was allowed to use the "N"word because a lot of other tv shows have used the "N" word. No one was complaing when Dave Chappelle starred in "The ****** Family." I personally thought i was hilarious. Southpark has made fun of the most random things of any other show out there, and along the way have offended probably everyone who has watched it in some way or another. You could make the same case against Carlos Mencia or other comedians.
Don Imus is differnet because his show is not targeted towards the audience that Southpark is.

South Park is usually on after 10pm. Stations like Comedy Central and FX will broadcast things like that, just because its late enough that kids aren't usually up watching it. The shows will say sh** and have some nudity on the shows as well. After 1am, Comedy Central sometimes broadcasts unedited comedy shows. I saw a black comedian do a show after 1am, and he used the N word over 100 times in that show. It was too excessive.

You act as if some government agency is doing the policing.
It is free trade. Imus said what he said to boost his sagging ratings by revving up his racist audience. Al Sharpton had him on to apologize on his show to rev up his racist audience.
Imus was canned because he went too far and his advertisers dumped him. It's the free enterprise system not Big Brother Bush.
South Park is an equal opportunity discriminator, it dispels stereotypes by offending everyone. That's why it is sooooo popular.

I think you should get in touch with David Duke and perhaps you guys can come up with a plan to boycott Viacom from allowing South park from using the N word.
That would be so fun to watch! Please hurry up and do it...if you hurry, you might be able to still get some of this Imus wind under your sails. LMABAO!!

Because this country is ridiculous. Why are rappers allowed to use the same words as Imus? Why is Chris Rock allowed to use the "N" word and not Michael Richards? Why are there Black Music Awards and no White Music Awards? Why is Howard Stern allowed to say anything and simply get fined? In other words...who knows?
Maybe it was a slow news day...

It isn't the word it is the literary style that is in question.
Many words have multiple meanings. Only as of late Americans have lost the use of double ententes. They went out with French Fries.
That is the problem with the RedsStater rapid response Hate Team. Sometimes you declare your hate before you know what your talking about.

Because in south park, they use the N word in the context of showing a racist bigot saying it.
As a satire, that is entirely appropriate. In context, South Park was not being racially insulting, they were insulting people who USE the word.
