We are having friends over for dinner, what should I make?

Since You said, it sounds like a sit dowm meal, rather than a buffet. Start with a nice Ceasar's salad, some rolls (both easy to make and looks great). For the main course, a standing pork rib roast with stuffing, one rib per person, twice-baked potatoes, and brocolli and cauliflower combination (You can use the frozen kind, but fresh are easy too and taste better.) Dessert should be light, like small pastries, but a pie, with ice cream, works well too.
All of this can be made ahead of time so You can relax with Your guests and actually enjoy some wine.

Roast pork and sauerkraut, served with mashed potatoes and applesauce. Take a boneless rolled pork roast and completely cover it with sauerkraut, cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes per pound, plus 30 minutes. The kraut will marinate the meat while it's cooking and make it really tender while also cutting the grease.

depends i have two ideas!
1. lasagna, sausage, meatballs, garlic bread, nice antipasta or mozerella & tomatoe or salad as an appetizer
2. make a roasted chicken, cover it in butter and season with spices. make some whipped mashed potatos, sauteed green beens, dinner rolls and salad for starters.also mini strawberry shortcakes, sliced straberries in mini shortbread cups topped with cool whip
dont forget to get some nice wine and have a good time with your friends!
