Hi All,
I need your help.As Iam in a mess.
Ia m a BTECH in CS with a 3.5+ EXP
I was working with an IT company (not too big) on the 24x7 Linux support. This was a profile that I didnt like as it didn't fit into my frame of profile. So, after working for 6 mnths ,recently when I got an offer from a big Indian IT MNC, with a hike of aroung 50% in the CTC, I joined the new company.

Here, now after one week now, my Proj. Mgr is asking me to deploy me on a project on the same profile as I was in my prev. company, for which I refused. But , he insisted me for it and has asked my consent on coming Monday.
This was not told during the interview even.Further more , I can find people on the same rank as Iam, sitting ,waiting for some project for more than 8-9 months.
I cant understand that y the PM wants me and not those guys who joined well b4 me and r sitting idle.
Further, I am scared that , its a new job for me and what will be the effect , If I refuse Pls sugg. how 2 handle this.

It seems that they hired you for your previous experience, and want to take advantage of it, regardless of what they said in the interview.

Refuse only if you can afford to lose the job.

My recommendation would be to accept the position, for now, and talk to your Manager to see if they will let you do the job you were hired to do after this project is completed, or start looking for a profile more suited to your tastes.
