Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!
The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.
Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.
Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

For us, it has varied year to year, any where from $5 to $100! Some years it's just been a card in the mail and a phone call, other years a wonderful gift. Depends on the mom, our finances, and where we are living at the time.
As a mom with kids at home, I like the homemade cards, the presents they think up by themselves, basically the stuff that makes a mom cry. One year they made a coupon book for me.... free hugs, chores without whining, those sorts of things.

I would always get her something she could use and try to find decently priced gifts. This year I got her what she has wanted for SO long, a Mother's Pendant Necklace from Lenox and it was about $107.
Spend whatever you want, my mom is ALWAYS satisfied with what I get her because she knows that it is the thought that counts.

Unemotional answer: One week's income - wages or allowance.
Emotional answer: Quality time is worth more than money. I love a ONE on ONE long lunch from my 3 kids (who are grown and married with kids of their own). I see them with their families and LOVE that on other holidays but for a couple of hours with just them, one at a time, is sheer heaven to me!!! Of course this isn't all done ON Mother's day - it is spread out over the month of May - and never ON Mothers' Day since all the restaurants are too crowded.

Nothing, mothers are just happy to get a phone call from their children. Or if your close by stop in and say "hello"
If you want to buy her something make it simple, flowers, a nice card or lunch.
It's the thought that counts!!

Mother's day is a day to express your love to your mother. Love can not measure by money. Just send her something you think right for her, and do not forget to tell her that you love her.

If our mothers were alive today, we would send them tickets so they could come see us or go see them, their choice. money for a new dress of their choice and dinner and a play, all on us, if they were alive.

What has money got to do with it?
Mom's don't care how much it cost, we care how much it's felt.
