Federal is April 17th and most states matched this. The only state that is April 16th is Montana. Every other state is April 17th or later.

The link below will give you the deadline for each state

State are not obligated to hold the same deadline as the federal government.

Most states have adopted the federal 'extended' date of April 17, 2007. There are a handful of states which are scrambling to pass the emergency legislation to agree with the federal date (Arizona, the last time I checked).

Also, there are a few states who have state due dates AFTER the normal April 15. Your best bet is to always check your state's instructions for up to date filing information.

Most of these are available online. Just search for your state's Department of Revenue.

Why would it be wrong? The deadline was extended for federal taxes because the 16th is a holiday in Washington DC. If it's not a holiday in a particular state, there's no reason for that state to extend their deadline, although many did just to avoid confusion for the taxpayers.

The IRS moved the filing deadline to 4/17. Many states also changed their filing deadline to match the federal deadline but some states did not.

Check your state's department of revenue website.

Whenever april 15th falls on a Saturday or Sunday - your taxes are not due until the following Monday; this year it will be April 16th.

While the IRS has moved its due date back one day (to the 17th) not all states have made the corresponding change. Please check on your state's website to verify the date.
