I'm not going to participate in any spewing of racial venom. All of this racial nonsense over Imus' comment has just gotten out of hand. Why is it that white America views black people as some kind of threat, like we're the enemy... meanwhile there are other races of people flying planes into the Trade Center, killing thousands of innocent people. Is this society so pathetic that a foolish comment can once again completely divide the races? Racial slurs are not okay from anyones' mouth... black or white, because they're always meant to degrade and dehumanize, and no, rappers shouldn't say the "N" word either, however, it's not quite the same thing. For example, if a 400lb person calls another 400lb person "fatty" that's not as insulting as it would be coming from a 100lb person. Do we as a society really want to live our lives hating each other?

both_tui, I agree with you, and as I stated - racial slurs from anyone's mouth (black or white) is wrong and shouldn't be. After all no one created themselves, therefore no one is responsible for what race they happen to be. I believe more of a fuss is made when it's a white person making racist remarks against a black person because blacks have been persecuted by whites in the past and it's a painful reminder of what has been. Now, I would like to go on record as saying I think it's time we as blacks or African Americans (whatever we prefer to be called) get rid of our victim mentality and move forward. I hope I answered your question. Also, I did not make reference to the 9/11 tragedy in an attempt to speak ill of another race of people, I simply mentioned it to point out the fact that America has enemies from many different parts of the world, so why be our own enemy. There are some wonderful people in and from the middle east; my apologies if anyone was offended.

When every group is willing to accept responsibility we won't have to talk about it anymore.

I agree with everything you said except about the other races of people flying planes into the Trade Center. You singling out a person of Middle Eastern descent is just as separatist and weakens your argument.

Good point about the person calling an alike person a name whereas the name coming from someone different being an insult. In joking, I have referred to myself as a whore. But I'll punch another person in the mouth for saying the same thing about me. When a person I know and have developed an understanding with calls me out of my name, it doesn't feel the same as if a stranger does it. That stranger doesn't know how I will be affected by the statement. He/She doesn't know if I will be offended whereas the person who knows me, knows that I wouldn't. So the stranger would be seen as inconsiderate, to me. It would stir up negative feelings.

Point well taken. I'm a black woman, by the way.

I think white people are backing this guy so much because they feel there is a double standard against whites. My fiance is white and i'm black. He has told me numerous times that he's felt insulted at the comments made by black radio stations. He said if it were reverse, bloody hell would be raised. How is this allowed? That is why I think there is so much uproar.

I don't think white people wake up everyday and say, "I hate f'in nappy headed hos." I think they're getting tired of the fact that every time a white person says anything objectionable about blacks, it gets national attention and Sharpton and Jackson begin foaming at the mouth thirsting for the blood of whites.

If that's not blatant racism and prejudice, I don't know what is. Sharpton and Jackson are prejudice. That's nothing new. And if they keep being the "voice of the people," blacks will be looked at in the same manner and race relations will deteriorate worse.

We need to stop letting blatant racists be the voice of black people. We need to stop the double standards. Now!

But would it be alright for the 400lb man to call the 100lb man "skinny anorexic crack-head"? See the double standard? There should be a level of equality. If your going to regulate what people say and the views/opinions they express, it should be equal across the board. Justice should not be served to those who raise the biggest stink.

I personally don't believe in the FCC as they only restrict freedom of speech. I think broadcasts should be unregulated in attempt to assist others in making informed decisions about they're own viewing/listening habits. If I want to turn on the radio and listen to a DJ spewing out hate and derogatory statements, it's my right. Equally I have the right to turn off that station and seek a cleaner/wholesome selection of entertainment.

To me, it's not even that serious, and no, I would not do it. You should be ashamed of even saying that. It is too many diseases out here for you to be willingly sharing a man. I would never lower myself to such a level just to get a black man. I'm not desperate. You'll be letting so many good men of other races pass by just because you're stuck on this one man. And personally, no offense, but you don't need to call anyone a jump-off. You're the one willing to be a sideline hoe, so you don't need to be talking about ANYBODY.

Most of what you say is true but.....PLEASE read my comments again. and give me the courtesy of having my comments and questions answered exactly as I asked them. Please address my comments.

When a white person makes a negative remark about a black person, you would think that the world had come to an end.
However, If a black person makes a negative remark about a white person VERY little ...if anything is said.
Are you afraid to respond exactly the way I want you to?

I agree this is all getting ridiculous. What happened to sticks and stones....He apologized, got suspended and publicly humiliated should we now burn him at the stake? Lets get on with life and concentrate maybe more on these military men who are fighting for our freedom or some other much more important issue.

I agree with you...but things will never change. The new generation is being taught to hate and judge others. I will never teach my children either of those things. I will allow them to make their own opinions through experience, not drill it into their innocent little heads. Prejudice is taught. You are not born with it.

You make a good point but I truly don't believe the races have ever been "un-divided" in our modern history.
