The guild I belong to recently began downloading and using 3rd party cheat programs. They claim that they are legal in game. I refuse to go do a dungeon or quest with these people. They are using programs that: Tell them where things are exactly and a path to get there without having to explore, What stats a creature/person has automatically, what to loot & where to sell it, what it is currently going for on auction house or how much suggested sell on AH is, and a few more that I forget. It basically does everything for them except run up and kill the things. I understand how these programs are viewed as "Helpful", but they take A LOT out of the game. It's not meant to be played this way. Now am I the badguy for being against this and trying to "stir" up trouble in the guild? If Blizzard wanted the game to be so easy they would of added. Their defense is websites like thottbot & wowhead are cheating, but they don't do it for you. And I only use them in desperation. Not all the time.

The Add-ons that you are describing sound perfectly legit.

It sounds like they are using Cartographer, Auctioneer, and MobHealth addons.

All of these are okay with the WoW Terms of Agreement.

Whether you want to use them or not, is your choice. Some people do think they degrade from game play, and others feel that they enhance game play.

If your guild is forcing you to use addons like Cartographer, and other information gathering addons, they are a bunch of morons.

I am a member of one of the Top raiding guilds in the US, and the only addons that we use is CT-Raid and KTM Threat Meters. I can understand if they wanted you to download those, but any other addon is simply for personal use.

Also keep in mind, that addons always have the risk of having a keylogger embedded in them.

To summarize, those addons are legal. They simply "Help" the player, and it is your choice if you want to use them.

It most definitely depends on the program. I believe that one that completely maps out the dungeon is quite stupid. Exploring is half the game! The AH one is most definitely not very good. However, programs that tell you the coordinates of where you are? A lot of helpful guides rely on the coordinate system. I don't use that program myself, but I can understand that one. If you want my advice... If the guild you are in makes you feel uncomfortable, or guilty, then leave that guild, and find a better one.

All those programs are legal as they said. All they do is help people in instances they need it. While I myself hate the Auction House one all the others are fine....dont get my wrong I would never download a program like that just because I like to do things on my own and the fact a key logger might be on them. The only add-on I have ever had was the one that kept track of where the ore was once I found it the first time.

Warlock I must agree with you. But even so, raids are extremely hard without certain programs. However some programs like : Stat showers, Instance maps, Showing the AH, Complete strategys, Where, whens and hows, are just going to make you lazy, and they take the fun out. I mean seriously raid maps? Come on you don't need it. However Blizzard deems them legal as it doesn't give them a "specific" edge.

Those are all actaully UI's and are legal in game, belive it or not. The one for knowing exactly where things are is a little much, but I have used the Autction house one beofer myself on a much earlier version of the game.

But...If you feel your guild has violated its ethics and is not playing the game the way it should be, leave them, and find a guild that doesn't do that. Or form one that is for peopel against such gameplay.

Hrmm....it seems like that would take all the fun out of the game. It's one thing to use a bot to help if you're really stuck, but you shouldn't be using it for everyday questing.

If it bothers you that much, you should probably find a new guild. Lord knows I wouldn't want to play with them.

yup life can be dramatic like that.. things will always go wrong because people failed to communicate effectively all through your life. Communication is pretty much the key to anything in life. M failed to communicate effectively and lost because of it and yes he will be sad. but perhaps he will learn to communicate more effectively from now on. perhaps he already is. Sometimes people have to get hurt to learn and grow. As to kissing J , he communicated very effectively , and made you feel like something special. I can't blame you at all for reacting to that.
