My husband likes a hard mattress, and I really prefer something cushier. We had a memory foam topper that I loved but it was too soft for his back. We can't afford a sleep number bed at this time- any suggestions to cushion one side of the bed?

One thing that i have used before is getting a 1/2 in piece of plywood to put between the mattress and bed springs. Slide it under his side of the bed.

Measure 1/2 the size of your bed. Go and cut a 1/2 inch piece of plywood and install it under the matress and on top of the box springs. He'll have the hard and you the soft. Good luck

A pillow top mattress works for us. He likes the hard mattress. He can put a board under his side of mattress.
This would eliminate buying a new pillow-top mattress.

Get a soft mattress and place a piece of plywood between the mattress and boxspring on his side of the bed. That will firm it up.
