I know brands and type of bike make a difference in waves, but I can't find out from internet if there is a difference if you are riding b. I don't have any biker friends to ask. Help me try to not be a geek please.

I'm talking about greeting waves, like hey, dude, and there is an etiquette about it - who you wave to, who you don't, when you wave, how you wave - but I don't know the rules for when you are riding b****.

You can wave to whoever you feel like, as long as you don't upset the balance. Discuss it with your driver first. They may not want you to, everyone has their reasons.

I never thought about getting Harley Davidson to fit in to any image, in fact my cousin in the H A really opened my eyes when I was a kid about what these people really are. I got my Ironhead after I came home from the Storm for a lot of reasons, but they all came back to the fact that I like Harley's, the way they look, sound and feel. I've ripped mine down to the frame and put it back together to fit my taste, but I get a lot of positive feedback everywhere I go. I like to think that I contribute to the positive image of a Custom Harley rider, and as part of the way I comport myself is to wave at anything custom, classic or on two wheels. I carry a tool bag and will not hesitate to pull over to help a fellow biker on the side of the road no matter what they ride. This is what I was told many moons ago was the meaning of the wave. I truly believe that the journey is better than the destination and besides the actual ride, I really enjoy meeting people.

My answer is that I have no answer... And it seems to me that at the start of the riding season more waves are returned than not, perhaps due to the fact that everyone is happy to be riding again. Here in Alberta Canada a returned wave might just be the acknowledgement of shared stupidity for riding in sub-zero (C°) temperatures. Maybe rushing the season just a little... Good luck in unlocking the unwritten biker's 'code of the wave'

Just put your hand out and wave. There's really no right or wrong unless you flip someone off.
BTW...How the heck are you supposed to tell what brand of bike someone is on when your riding by them at....70mph (for the sake of argument) I'm a little preoccupied with the road ahead.

quote--> "Help me try to not be a geek please."

answer--> Too Late.

Here's the real deal .... If you see a bike, rider, stunt, etc... that you find interesting ... you should wave !!!

If someone waves at you, try to wave back.

A geek will worry waay too much about protocol, and, will eventually crash their ride. (or crash the fun quotient of their ride).

'nuff said.

You're the passenger. You do not wave. When you move, it changes the balance of the motorcycle. You do NOT want to do that especially if your fiance has one hand off the handlebar because he is waving. Just hang on and maintain your position, and do not abruptly move, EVER.

Im assuming your talking about actually waving at someone?

If so, then you simply follow his lead unless you personally know the person.

There aren't any rules. Just wave if you want to.

If you are on a Honda Goldwing, you'll need to locate the auto-wave button.

Wave to everyone. Even if they're squids, pricks, lawyer wannabes on Harleys, men, women, tourers, enduros, and even cops (hey, sometimes they wave back).

Two wheels means you're family, and just like relatives you don't have to LIKE them all to be civil at reunions!

EVERYONE gets a wave.
