All I can remember is that the wife killed a man (I think he was the delivery boy, and I think it was in the kitchen)
She and her husband hid the body in a dumb-waiter.
At the end of the film, the dead man walks into the woman's bedroom, with his face a mess from where she had shot him. She then shoots him and kills him and then her husband walks in and peels off the fake rubber "wound" make-up from the dead man's face and calls the police ....I think that he was trying to either drive his wife mad or get her put into prison for murder. Can't remember why.
The film is pretty ancient - possibly in Black & White.

I don't know what movie this is but it does remind of the French flim "Diaboulique" a B/W classic thriller, starring Jeanne Mourea and Simone Signoret. There was a re-make of this with Sharon Stone which sucked really bad, btw. If you don't mind sub-titles, the original movie will scare the crap out of you! Lol.....

How intriguing!

I tried to find a suitable answer, but this is such a broad genre it was difficult.

Perhaps looking into Film Noir will help.

I don't know but I want it! It's definitely not Gaslight though.....

I'll see if I can come up with something.

Nothing yet....I did post your description out here; perhaps one day there'll be an answer!

Are you thinking about Deathtrap with Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve? The husband and the fake victim (teacher and student who are also lovers, I think) trick the wife into killing him so she'll have a heart attack.

The only one that sounds sort of similar to me is Gaslight with ingrid Bergman. But i don't think that is the one you are looking for.
