People have the right to be racist if they choose, as long as they are not harming someone else or trying to take away their rights but they have that right to not like someone. I do not support or agree with it, but people have that right.

Eric M., funny you want to sit here and throw insults yourself in a public forum, should you be banned? Funny you are against Imus for something you just did yourself, you are a hypocrite just like everyone else who is bashing IMUS, GOOD JOB!

What did Imus say that was so bad? What is the big deal? Also, if some of these people actually studied the first amendment and knew what it doesnt say Free Speech as long you don't make fun of someone. Yes, he did it at work but turn on any radio station and you can hear much worse things said. Go turn on your on your lcoal rap station and you will hear much worse, so where does it stop? If we start firing people for saying somethign someone finds offensive, where do we stop? Who gets fired next? That is the problem, it opens up a pandoras box for people to start going after anyone and everyone. Next stop total; censorship, next stop people being thrown in jail. Look at the bigger issue here, if we allow one person to be fired like this then it allows an open door to go after anyone.

So your point is that any employer can fire any at any moment? So then any boss can just fire their employee for no reason? That is a great theory, the way you want it any boss can fire an employee for no reason and say oh he said something I dont like, forget wrongful termination take that away as well. I would never hire Imus, I do not like Imus but if as we roll back freedom of speech it is only a matter of time before we take away other freedoms. This country was founded upon freedom of speech and that should be more important than anything even your precious capitalism. If it werent for people fighting for this freedom you would not even know what capitalism is, all you would know it British rule. Do you understand that radio is an enterprise based on entertainment? It is not that same as an office, just because you do not like what is said doesnt mean joe smith doesnt. Now you know why radio is a dying form of entertainment, people are not allowed to speak freely.

That's the point. We must save our FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Our Constitution is based upon freedom of speech. If we don't stand up for our rights, we will have none.

We need to boycott all the companies who pulled their ads from the Networks, demand that the Networks rehire Don Imus and admit that they made a knee-jerk reaction, and then, if he is not rehired, we should turn the dial or turn them off and make our own news. We have the power. We need to use it.

I don't agree with Imus said, but I sure support his right to say it!

Horse manure. You don't even know what freedom of speech is. You seem to think it means "you can say absolutely anything, no matter how rude, crude, blasphemous, obscene, etc., and nobody can make you face any consequences for it." You also seem to think everybody has a constitutional right to keep their job. That's more manure.

Imus's employers are free to fire him any time they want. And he's free to go get another job, maybe a better job. Because he is still free. Freedom of speech, not "license" to do anything you want.

Grown-up's understand this.

P.S. If I were to get banned for these tame comments, then that is up to the owners of this website, and I won't WHINE about it. ... now please address my point, that you seem to think there should never be any consequences to anything anybody says. And your opinion of what Imus's employer should do is superior to his employer's opinion. Bull. Why don't you get the money together and hire Imus? LOL ... And by the way, you're assuming I'm against Imus, duh. I'm for the freedom to hire and fire. I'm for capitalism. I hope Mr. Imus gets a wonderful new job and lives happily ever after, okay? And I hope the company that fired him makes more money now. ... If you want to tell me your gender and race, then maybe I could do what Imus did. LOL

Imus is an entertainer, and he was being paid.
If he's not profitable any more, then his boss doesn't have to keep him around. It happens all the time in the entertainment business.
This isn't a free speech issue. He still has the right to say whatever he wants to.
But he doesn't have a special right to be paid for it. Nobody pays me for speaking my mind, unfortunately.

Freedom of speech can not store someone. If folks are becoming killed within the holocaust you feel their pronouncing "hiya please do not kill me?" goes to difference some thing? Besides, I'm guessing folks killed within the holocaust exercised an incredible quantity of freedom of speech correct earlier than they have been gunned down via firing squads. The correct to undergo hands is what saves lives.

You're confused. Don Imus was free to say whatever he wanted to say. He just couldn't say it at work!
