Orlando's character, who is fictional, defends the walls of Jerusalem from Saladin's massive siege force for 3 days (sort of like 300 and Thermopylae). The reason why he defends it is because Saladin's army could have marched in on Jerusalem and done whatever they wanted to the people and to the city. But, because Orlando's character survived for so long Saladin had to negotiate with Orlando for terms of surrender before both armies lost more men. Orlando has the surviors of Jerusalem safely evacuated and returns to his original home with the queen. There he is asked years later by the King Gregory of England to help him retake Jerusalem from Saladin. Orlando refuses claiming he is not the legendary defender of Jerusalem.

There are 3 really important scenes in the move that convey the director's opinion. The first is when Orlando's character begins to set up defensive fortifications on Jerusalem. The bishop at Jerusalem tells Orlando that there is no point in trying to save the city and that they should all just convert to Islam and repent later. To this Orlando replies, "You have taught me much about religion, Bishop."

The next scene is the one where Orlando and Saladin are negotiating terms. Orlando asks Saladin what Jerusalem is worth to him. Saladin tells him "Nothing." Saladin begins to walk away and right before he recedes into the rows of his army he turns around and says, "Everything."

The last scene shows Saladin walking through the halls of one of Jerusalem's buildings when he comes across a Crucifix lying on the ground. He picks it up and puts it upright on the desk infornt of him. Remembr Saladin was the Islamic leader who swore to wipe all christianity from Jeruslam.

The well information or gospel is an interpretation. What was once new? From the time of Moses and the prophets, this message was once proclaimed. What was once new right here, was once that the Kingdom cometh now not from commentary. Nearly every person was once watching on the bodily. ONly the few have been browsing the scriptures for the Messiah. They have been watching for what was once Good, God on my own. The Kingdom was once close, status proper earlier than them, however who new it?John the Baptist was once involving Jesus and didn't respect that He was once the One to return, the Holy ONe of Israel. INstead of the well information, we will name it, The Good Words of the Kingdom. If the ones Good Words abide in you they're going to supply you a brand new Life, and also you will probably be my disciples. Peter was once three years with the Lord and the Lord mentioned to him, whilst you're modified. What did Peter ought to stay up for, He heard the message of the Kingdom however was once now not but modified. What was once lacking? What Peter was once lacking was once the Kingdom. The phrase 'Kingdom' whilst researched has 2 meanings: one it does imply, of path, a Kingdom and all of the topics therein, and it has an additional which means that many leave out, and that's the rulership, the authority of that Kingdom, and we're to search that first. Knowing that you just love this well message, realizing Who it's that you just love saves you.

The Muslims lay seige to Jerusalem. Orlando and company try to defend it, but can't. Bloom's character surrenders the city with the terms that every non-muslim can leave the city unharmed. He and the queen go back to France where he once lived. Some Crusaders come looking for him and he sends them away, not revealing who he is.
