Academics does not necessarily provide one with "the truth". Flipping burgers for 20 years. . .that's another story.

As crazy as that sounds at first, really crazy, i am old enough now to almost believe it is maybe true. it goes against a life time being a believer in "truth and knowledge" is the ultimate goal. it does most often make people miserable, it seems. makes me miserable most of the time. i guess there is a blessing in growing old and forgetful, even alzheimers? maybe that is why grandma was so nice in her final years. she forgot so much. she was so pleasant. her bm's were her biggest concern.

You might be right. I go to college and it is making me miserable. (no really). But some of my teachers seem miserable. Maybe it's from so much education.

For some it would be so. It's hard to take off the rose coloured glasses and see the world without all the fairy tales and window dressing.
