This 70's hit for Carly Simon has always had rumours surrounding it with regards to who the song is about. Mick Jagger sang backing vocals on it, but it's not about him. Carly has denied it's about James Taylor (they were married at the time the song was a hit), so rumours have persisted that it's about actor Warren Beatty, who reportedly had a brief fling with Carly.
Beatty as recently as last week said "let's face it....it's about me.". Carly Simon auctioned off the secret a few years ago. The highest bidder got dinner with Carly, and she would tell them who the song was really about, on condition that they never reveal it to anybody else. Carly states she'll never tell, because as long as there is speculation, the song won't go away!

In an interview with Guitar One magazine she said she would never tell, if she did no one would ever need to interview her again, but she said it was about more than one person
