this double standard is really getting on my nerves. libby was crucified for a bad memory, duke cunningham paraded thought the press daily during his trial, and abramoff had just as many dem ties as republican, but the right was never left out of his headlines, but this is barely covered or acknowleged. anyone else notice?

There seems to be a disturbing emerging pattern of republicans targetted by the media and congressional hearings meanwhile democrats like Sandy Burger get off nearly scott-free.

There is no double standard here. The guy got caught. He is on trial. What else do you want? It was not like it was a matter of national security like the Libby debacle. You are also forgetting that he was one of FIVE lawmakers arrested for this... and they were not all Democrats. "Former Rep. Chris Newton, R-Cleveland, pleaded guilty to bribery and served a nine-month sentence." If this is a matter of politics for you, you might not want this in the headlines afterall. It has nothing to do with Democrats and Republicans. That is probably why it isn't being covered more. There is no party dirt to smear on anyone's campaign, so no one cares.

The Democratic and Republican parties have already been sold to Corporate America. The current administration has been sold to folks who do well when the US is at war.

That should get on your nerves.

I agree that the Dems are really dirty too, but the level of corruption, unethical behavior, and fraud in the Bush administration is unprecedented & unacceptable. If you value the GOP, you would demand better as well.
