I might have picked Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler, but her performance is marred by her having such a bad singing voice (I'm guessing from too much shouting and smoking). They should have gotten someone else to sing that song.

...and I might have picked any of several songs by the Carpenters, but they don't qualify for this question, since they're a group.

Here`s That Rainy Day. The Peggy Lee version. There are a lot of newer songs that I like but this song always makes me pause. The Julie London version is equally as good.
