These are the metal kind, white (well, when they're clean!), and they're in a smoker's house. I really dread the idea of SCRUBBING each and every one.

Put them in the bathtub! I put warm/hot water and detergent such as mr clean. Use a cloth or soft brush..wash them down then hang them outside in the sun to dry. If you have a deck with railing, drape them over, or just lay them down outside on the porch. Or you can clean them outside with a hose...same deal...soap them up and rinse them off! Works great.

How To Clean Mini Blinds

2016-09-28 01:19:23 · answer #2 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

my dad smokes and when they wanted to sell the house, we all came and cleaned....cleaning the blinds was a pain because my dad smoked.

i found the best way to clean the mini blinds was to take them down off the window and take them outside, find something to hang them on and spray the blinds with a hose. I also found that the hose works a lot better if you use warm water. if the smoke is really caked on there make some soapy water in a big bucket like you would to wash your car, and splash the soapy water on the blinds first, let them sit for a few minutes and then spray them off.

let the blinds dry thoroughly and put them back on the windows.

that way is so much easier than scrubbing each blind in the house or using a duster or whatever.

I just found this idea the other day, and it works like magic, pour about half cup of White Vinegar to about half bucket of clean hot water and brush on this solution with a clean never used small paintbrush, then wipe off blind with a soft towel, dirt just rolls off blinds and so will the smoke and odor from the smoking stains, your blinds will be clean and odor and stain free, all my blinds look new again. Good Luck !

I've never tried this myself, but one day I was washing my car at the car wash and saw someone washing their mini blinds, and I thought "What a great idea" Of course, they had a pickup truck to put the wet blinds in the back, so if you don't have one, not sure of the best way to get them back home.

I think the easiest way to take them down and clean them is to hang them in the shower by the rail and spray them with some cleaner like Fantastic or 409 and let it sit, then you should be able to spray them off. Hopefully you have a removable sprayer showerhead.

1. Take them down
2. Stick them in the bath tub (if small enough
otherwise take them outside)
3. Put baking soda on them and a little dish soap
4. Spray them with water (you may have to scrub
them a little bit)
5. Rinse
6. Let them dry (if you have time or give them a
quick swipe with a towel
7. Hang back up.

When I worked as a housekeeper, what I would do is soak the blinds in a tub of hot water and bleach while I cleaned the windows. Then I would wipe the blinds down and rehang them when they were done dripping.

I take mine outside and hang them on a drying rack with large S hooks, spray them with Greased Lightening let them set for a minute or so and hose off and let dry, they will dry fast on a nice sunny warm day, you can also hang them off of a clothes line to do this, the greased lightening will cut the nicotine and you virtually have no scrubbing or soaking to do.

There is no easy way of doing this ,believe me ,the way I do it is to hang the blinds outdoors on an childs swingset frame and use a car wash brush and dawn then hose them off and let dry.
