people often use the two terms interchangebly, but i believe they are not synonyms right

Pretty would mean - Pleasing by delicacy or grace; not imposing

Beautiful - Aesthetically pleasing, Delighting the senses or exciting intellectual or emotional admiration

To me pretty means the superficial, pretty is more synonymous with cute. Real beauty comes from within. Pretty catches your eye immediately, Beauty is deeper, more striking, more memorable. See the difference from Dictionary.com
