No way ... there is such a double standard in this country. People need to stop being so overly sensitive. If these girls were so upset over his comments, they need to develop a thicker skin. When they go out into the real world after college, they can't be crybabies.

It seems unfair or drastic for a guy's career to sink just because of one instance of not controlling his comments.
And the Mel Gibson incident shows that people can forgive isolated instances of badmouthing. But apparently Imus did this kind of thing a lot, disparaging other minority groups such as Jews, as well. It was part of his style. Maybe it's time to reverse the trend of "shock jocks" in the media, spewing garbagy comments into eveyone's minds, and to insist on some quality and sensitivity from the people who make scads of money being on the networks and airwaves. Why should someone get rich from being nasty? Is that too much to ask, that our society be respectful and polite to all people? Yes, this should also apply to music, role models, athletes, celebrities, and the rest.

No, because Black people can insult themselves and get away with it.....they do it all the time. People will never take racism seriously until minorities respect themselves. They want everyone to give them special privileges. I could care less about black, white, asian, mexican, whatever. Just don't complain that a person of a different race used a term you use all the time.

Of course not--because such a comment--used between black people, does not imply racism. But when used by a white person toward a black person, it does.

And all of the racist apologists for Inus know that--but like any other bully, they are whining because one of their number got taken down--just as he deserves.

Nope, the blacks can say what they want to each other, and quite frankly about whites, and any other race. It would have been considered funny. Black dj's say much worse about people on the radio.
