I agree, but it definitely it not just them. It makes me laugh. Everyone was so happy that the teams got their salary cap. The argument was that the costs saved by not paying the players would come to the fans. What a bunch of naive suckers most fans turned out to be. The money is just going into the owners' pockets instead. Supply and demand, I guess. The joke is on us.

No, I didn't see that. Thats a shame, I saw tons of reasonably priced tickets for Game 1 on Ebay, too. Most didn't exceed $99 (a piece) at all, even for lower bowl seating. It is expensive and people in Michigan are truly struggling right now and also the Red Wings just aren't quite as big as they were in the past. Might have something to do with the slew of 1st and 2nd round playoff exits the past 3-4 years.

The game was NOT sold out. Local radio here in Detroit said that allegedly, one hour before game time, the box office at the Joe was selling tickets 2 for the price of 1.
Are Wings fans spoiled - yes.
Is the economy here in Detroit bad - yes.
Are the tickets overpriced - yes. (I think cheapest seats, not including standing room are $40 - while you can get playoff tix in Tampa for $8)
Has Detroit been bounced early and not been able to get out of the first round lately - yes.
Are Wings fans the new Braves fan - unfortunately.
Go Wings! I'll be watching every second from the comfort of my couch and spending my $40 on sweet bottle of bourbon.
The Stanche still suck.

i think of that's Detroit. once I've long gone to Detroit vs. Carolina video games there are only as many Wings followers as Canes followers. It is likewise obvious that they've a o.k. traveled fan base. the reason they have not offered out all video games is as a results of the cost of tickets and the situation of Michigan's hockey. they might sell tickets every time if the human beings had jobs. check out their previous years' attendance. None profound: that's what i'm asserting. it is the different ingredient that will improve the wings' acceptance. many human beings have left the Detroit section (myself risk-free), yet proceed to help the team from their new homestead. i've got met a minimum of 10 different human beings from Michigan because i've got been in North Carolina. of direction Canadian communities even have super followings yet i think of they're extra heavily linked to the truthfully section wherein they play. Pittsburgh is yet another team that has a sturdy following, besides the undeniable fact that it is extra of a bandwagon ingredient those days. i be attentive to that folk from Pittsburgh stay and die by using the Steelers and then the Pens.

The Wings announced a crowd of 19,204 (20,066 is a sellout), although that number seemed inflated by approximately 2,000 in the opinion of many regulars in the press box. It was their first official non-sellout in many years.
Obviously a pricing issue. They sell out all of the regular season games, it is hockey town, and all of the sudden the playoffs come around and BANG it's 99 bucks for a nosebleed. Maybe you can get some more affordable tickets online.

I too love my Wings and I went to a playoff game last year; had to see Stevie Y playing in his final season. Anyway if you go the the Joe Louis website and buy tickets you can get standing room tickets for the playoffs for $68. Standing room at the Joe rocks, they are way better than the nosebleed section.
Try getting anything at the ACC for under $100.

Its nothing but a technicality. All those empty seats, are season ticket holder seats, so they are sold. Its always been like that here, alot of the people who have those tickets, dont care about the games, they have them, because its cool to have season tickets. Alot of the people who sit in those seats, got the tickets from someone else. Joe public, is not going to spend over $100 to get crummy seats.
