u highlight the word and right click and select hyperlink and type the link u want it to go in a box that appears

Depends, if you use HTML commands on notepad (as a source code of HTML) it will be written like this:

If your talking about within yahoo answers to create the link you have to include the http:// before the address.
so www.yahoo.com doesn't work but http://www.yahoo.com does.

copy-paste the link from the adress bar instead of typing it, for example
If you type: www.yahoo.com
It's not the same as: http://www.yahoo.com/
