yes definitely foreign coach can increase Indian team's proficiency but what matters here is the ability of the players. Even if the coach is efficient unless and untill the players are in form to avail his experience, proficiency of any team could not increase. Talent is the first and foremost quality any Indian player should have, not recommendation. If talented players are taken in Indian Team and then they are trained by any coach, need not be only foreign coach, Indian Team's proficiency would definitely reach sky.

Any foreign coach can not increase the proficiency of 'Team India' until he put himself in that shoe. John Wright was successful because he understood the mentality and the way of Indian play. But Greg wanted on his way.
A desi coach has this,, a +++ point.

The problem is that the Indian Cricket Board hires foreingn coaches to coach India. These coaches do not understand the Indian game and can not coach players of Indian decent because Indians have a different style in playing. They need an Indian coach who has played the game.People like Kapal Dev,Mohammed Azrudin and even Pakistanies like Imran Khan and Wasim Akram.

Most likely not. The malaise is all pervasive right from the top of the Board to the last player sitting on the bench. Most critically, there is little accountability for failures and no foreign coach can change such a culture.

F coach is comes wiht less luggage. desi coach means favourtism, partisan and regionalism ..etc.. sandip patil was coach for only 5 months but then he was forced to resigned b'czu team memebers do not like his working sessions..
ven chappelll tried to push players from comfort zone, treated everbody equal and alike but some senior players did not like his professionalism and chappell tried exposed the groupism. 2 star players with their strong support and group and sponser response are spoiling ind cricket. they make sure ind loose the match and many players thing ther are leaders and not to led by captain dravid. Dravid will have more tough time ahead of him if senior players did not cooprate with dravid india team might loose series against bangladesh. one more defeat may end dravid 's odi carrieer.
but 2 star player and their gang should realise that nobody is bigger than game.
it is interesing to see how desi coach will train the sachin, ganguly, zahir bajji sewag yuvi agarkar b'cuz these players only agaisnt captain??/

As long as players change their attitude and ego and co-operate fully with the coach and the cricket administratives give free hand to coach without interference, things will not improve under any coach

well, it depends from coach to coach, like greg chappell our indian coach, culdnt understand our team whereas tom moody, coach of sril lanka, understood them very quickly n the team is showing the result.Likewise DAV WATMORE,prsently bangladesh coach. Under his guidance bangladesh has gone into super 8 n defeated south africa. He guided srilanka to world cup in 1996.
So u c it depends from coach to coach but at present we shud appoint an indian coach. He can understand better.
