No one else caused Imus to make his ignorant remarks. He, unfortunately, has a history of making racial slurs, and may, in fact, be senile. It's just sad that so many hip hop artists flagrantly use the same words, and worse, in their lyrics. Maybe the one good thing that could come from Imus' blunder is a discussion among the rap/hip hop community about what is appropriate. The violence in our nation cannot be directly blamed on a musical genre; it stems from many problems.....poverty, drugs, lawlessness, and a total disrespect for authority...teachers, police, and even God. We don't need to get rid of hip hop, but many of the artists need to be more conscious and accountable for the message they perpetuate. I may be shocked and offended by the lyrics of some rap artists, and I would not allow my children to watch the vulgarity in many of the videos, but just being exposed to this "gangsta" mentality makes me want to do better, not join in. I just sit in disbelief that more black leaders don't rise up to appeal to these young artists to be more responsible. I defend their right to express themselves, but who protects innocent children from watching and falsely assuming this is the real world? A real dilemma, to be sure.

No. How can you say music causes violence. It's sad to say but the reason Imuis is getting all this smoke is because he is white. You could say all you want that its not true but if an African American said that everyone would have laughed. Also look at hip hop its all black people Eminem comes out and raises such hell even though hip hop was out 20 years before him but its because he is white. It's alright for African Americans to do this stuff but not white people.
