We would be more at risk.

We would have proved to the world that we are not willing to fight in any conflict in which we sustain anything but absolutely minimal (or perhaps ANY) casualties, and that we will not stay to prevail in any conflict that lasts more than an exceptionally short period of time.

We will have shown that it is dangerous to be our friend (because we will have abandoned those who worked with us in Iraq) and that it is relatively risk-free to be our enemy.

This will meaan we will be challenged much more by our enemies than we otherwise would have.

Many, many more Americans will die in the long run if we "stop the war now."

One can even think the initial decision to go in was wrong and still understand that we cannot withdraw in failure.

PS Great question!

I would feel the same amount of fear as I do now. I don't feel that the troop surge in Iraq is having the effect that we had hoped it would. Yesterday's bombing is proof that the new Iraqi government is filled with corruption and the insurgency is as strong as ever, if not growing stronger.

While I understand the theory of pulling out the troops will lead to a breading ground for terrorists, I fear that this is already the case with our soldiers there already. Therefore, if there is an attack on American soil (which I do think will happen unfortunately), I'd feel a lot safer knowing that there are plenty of rested and rejuvenated soldiers here to protect me in my homeland.

It's such a Catch 22. I really wish that we had never invaded in the first place but hindsight is 20/20.

Happy Friday and enjoy the weekend!

I would feel 1000% safer if Congress resigned in mass tomorrow, and I might even start going to church again.

If our troops pull out it will strengthen the resolve of the enemy.

You people who have never fought these little commies have no idea of their will and resolve and the ONLY THING they respect is superior force and fire power. Why do you think they use five year old little girls as bombs to blow up buildings?

They will do ANYTHING to destroy us and our freedoms.

If I had a time machine, I would go back and put every single chickens hit congressman in front of the NVA, in full regale, running down the hills about to overrun your position.............

and then ask them what are you going to do,,,,,, fight

or cut and run.

a bayonet in the back is just as deadly as one in the front, although in the back you get to die and live immortally as a coward.

In war there is only one way, move forward and fight like hell for the guy next to you and pray you get home to see those you miss so.

And for you atheists, when you are faced with kill or be killed, yes you do pray, and then you make a whole lot of promises after the danger has passed, and then for the rest of your life you get angry at yourself because you did not keep those promises you made in fear.

The problem is this: If we pull our troops out of Iraq 100%, it will all be hunky dory for a while. The country will attempt to destroy itself and do a marvelous job. Eventually the terrorists will wind up in control. Next step, a Nuclear Bomb will be detonated in the US by the terrorist leaders of Iraq. At least one will be in the Washington DC area - where I live close to you. There could be many others: LA, New York, Chicago. Think of the possibilities. Then it really is fullfledged war and our country is practically ruined. The trouble is, at the pace we are currently going, we aren't going to get Iraq straightened out before everyone is sick of being there. This will happen!!! I can almost guarantee it. And I'm saying this in any biased way. My husband is being deployed to Iraq in the next three months and I don't want him to go. I want more than anything right now for someone to say: No more troops are going and bringing them all home! That would make me very happy right now. Unfortunately, that leads to disaster!

I would feel much more in danger if we pulled out of here and by here i mean where i am stationed right now, Iraq. Even though i have no wish to be redeployed back to this place, especially as a national guard soldier. I respect the decisions of those appointed over me and agree that it is not only in our best interest but in the best interest for those citizens of Iraq for us to stay and finish the job we have started. To turn our head now would be unmoral, unjust, and unamerican. As was said below you do not have to agree with why we came but you must see why we must stay. Do not let your hatred for the actions of a few harm the good for many Innocent.

Iraq HAD nothing to do with our safety.NOW may be a different story since Bush has peed every nation you can think of off.We aren't safe now if you think about it and never will be totally safe. How can we?Get realistic.Unless we completely shut our country off from everything, give people from the time of birth who are born here drugs to keep them compliant how can we ever be 100% target free? It's nonsense to think otherwise. It's a scare tactic and it works gotta give Bush a thumbs up on that one.

we ought to pull them out speedy adequate so the Iraqis word. we are at occupation no longer conflict and how you win a occupation is to circulate domicile. The observe rebellion has been replaced with words like terrorist by the white domicile. the government will stabilize whilst the insurgents quit and that gained`t befell until eventually we circulate domicile. we are caught right have been the specialists stated we could be, domicile-to-domicile wrestle, no longer solid for the troops. in case you ever seen the action picture pink first easy then you definately comprehend you could`t win a occupation purely wars and Iraq isn't a conflict it truly is a occupation. i think of Bush and acquaintances tried to make Iraq the appropriate conservative u . s . with privatize water and means which failed and outlawed hard artwork unions which upset the human beings.

Much more at risk, it would give Iran control over most of the Middle East. Saudi Arabia would be afraid to cross them for fear of a war (would they still trust us to help), Syria is already a satellite state of Iran. The Militants would just turn their full attention to our troops in Afghanistan escalating the fighting there. If history has already shown that they will attack us here without provocation, ie; The Bali Bombings, the USS Cole, the Embassy bombings, and the first attempt to destroy the WTC what makes anyone think they would stop if we left Iraq? They performed the above mentioned attacks while Clinton was president, and we had just helped them in Bosnia against the Serbs, and years earlier in Afghanistan against the Russians. Still they attacked us. As long as we support Israel and are basically a Christian nation they will keep coming.

Absolutely safer! Insane, illegal, police actions, only incite angry, and violence, around the world. The reasons given for invading Iraq, in the first place, were nothing but lies. *sm*
