Most often than not we see captains being criticised for making a decision after seeing them falter.
For example it was thought the team batting first will win.But in the NZ-SL match it went the other way.
What goes wrong and where?

Seeing the results so far, I think it is better to lose the toss.

It is not the question of toss. The captain is supposed to be a quality person who understand his team's strength,Weakness,Threat and Opportunity.Yes SWOT analysis of his team and a unbiased SWOT of the opponent.Decide much before studying the pitch and weather Use the knowledge of the coach. Now if you win the toss you know what to do.Losing the toss is not a good sign since you are making another person to dictate the terms and a team of towering strength such as Ozzie's can only have that sort of advantage.

winning the toss is a boon in one way, that if the pitch is a batting pitch it is obvious that you will be batting first,in the NZ-SL match, nz didn't bat well, but if the ground is a new ground and it was the first time we are playing with it, winning the toss is obviously a bane because if the team loses the captain will be blamed.

It depends.

If u r concentrating on winning the game, toss is of no use. South Africa beat Australia in game wen Aus made 434 batting first. SA wanted to win the game at any cost and that made the difference. Thats a world record now. Chasing 434 they scored 438 runs.
In this case, toss was not the imprtant factor and this applies in all games.

Dependes on the state of the pitch and what it could do later on. But just because the captain wins the toss does not mean they will win the match. Blaming the captain when the side looses happens always.

Winning the toss will be always advantageous as it gives an option to the Captain whether to bat first or field first depending upon the conditions of the pitch, weather conditions etc.

Great players, good pitch, good weather, bad opponent etc..decides a team's victory. Winning the toss or electing to bat or field first need not be a chance of winning.

It is always safe to loose the toss. Any decision taken after winning a toss is a gamble.
