I live near the river. once i went there and started to stare at the sand, i saw some thin moving in there.i scooped it up and put it in a transparent bag full of water.a little, long creature about 5mmlong and 5-10 legs 0.8mm-1.8mmlong. it came out of the sand and buried itself in it. it was sort of transparent . im sure it is a kind of shrimp or kril. it looks a bit like brine shrimp but not exactly . would it be safe to feed it 2 my pet guppy fry? theres heaps of em krill on the sand, aprox1 per 6 cmsquared. the water is'nt dirty. i ocassionally see pufferfish and small fish in it. the water is brackish to salty.

It would probbaly be safe to feed them to your guppies, but I would want to identify them before I fed them to fish. As with any other live food that comes from the same water as fish, there is always the chance you could bring in disease problems in a tank this way, so you should very carefully consider that as well.

If you want to provide your fish with live food cheap, I would suggest you raise some mosquito larvae or maggots. Both are easy to get and practically free as well as being free of any fish diseases.

I have many guppies - we started with 3 and now have about 50 in our tank. Guppies will eat anything that they can get into their mouths, this is true with all fish. I don't think it would hurt them if they happened to be interested in eating it, but it may harm your aquarium environment. Since the water contains some salt, I would be more concerned with this hurting your water quality. I feed my guppies a variety of foods. There are many foods at the pet store that you can alternate. It promotes health and will also aid in their proper growth and coloring. You can try giving it to your guppies, but monitor what happens very closely. The size of you tank would also be a factor. Good luck with your guppies! I stumbled onto a new hobby that I love when I got mine!!

No man do not feed them that creatures.. Because this creature may contains bacteria. That will harm your guppy. Guppy eats anything. So you should take care of them. Rivers creatures are not safe enough .There is no guarantee of them. You should buy fish food from pet shops only.

I hope it will help u to take right decision.

Stick with the proven way to feed your guppies or you will end up out of the guppy business! If you were raising Oscars, maybe I would try it on them because they can eat lots of different types of food but not guppies!
