Note that I'm assuming you are referring to american wrestling, as in WWF wrestling:
Well, first of all, fake isn't a good word. To a certain extent, the wrestling is quite real. People do get hurt, some have even died.
Maybe a better way to approach it is to tell him it is "scripted". Explain that wrestlers are basically actors, who do their own stunts.
Just like with actors on other T.V. shows,
the story lines are written. Each "actor" does has a lot of input into their own character, and probably some input into the results of matches. However, who wins the match is already determined before the matches start. Probably, some of the moves and stuff are too, and I'm reasonably sure the moves are practiced, in order to maximize safety.
Still, becasue of its nature, things that are not planned do happen. At this point, a certain amount of add-libbing must occur.
The fact that it's scripted, doesn't mean it can't be fun to watch. I really wouldn't worry too much about his refusal to accept Wrestling for what it is, though. Explain it to him, and let it go. Unless it begins running major interference in his life, let him enjoy the show. He'll figure it out some day.
Good luck!

Smart kid. He's questioning and thinking for himself. Read the paragraph you wrote and pretend you had no bias towards previous Christian teachings. It looks ridiculous right? No wonder your son is confused. He hasn't been brainwashed and sees the irrationality of the Bible's direct context. Maybe its you who needs the wake up call in what is real and fake. Becasue from atheists to even the most religious scholors, the Bible isn't logical and sensible at all. I'm a religious man, don't get me wrong. But I read the holy texts as metaphors. Just because the Bible says a man lived in a whale doens't mean it happened. Its a message told through a fictional story thats easy to understand. That is what you might want to tell your son. It's not so important that Jonah, or Adam, or Eve ever actually existed as much as the story's good message is.

Don't spoil it for him. I am in my 30's now and wrestling for me is a bit of escapism from my grown up life.
Yes, I know the results and events are pre-determined but I also know the things they do to each other are real. If a 300lb man jumps on your leg, it's going to hurt!
And your son is only 12. Why is it different to the women in the supermaket (and we've all heard them) going "ooh, what about that Kat Slater? I can't believe she did so and so!" Now there's a problem we should be discussing since Kat Slater does not and has never existed and did not do any of these things that they are talking about.

Let him try a few of those moves, on a trampoline or with a judo or aikido instructor. He'll see that you can do pretty dramatic looking things that don't hurt a bit.
He is old enough to start doing and learning for himself, not just believe what you say "because you say it."
Or, at least, take him to a match and see it in person. It is so obvious once you are there.

Smack him over the head with a folding chair and see how long it takes for him to get up. If and when he comes round, say to him "that's what would happen to the guy on TV if american wrestling was real".

I detest wrestling...it is pitiful to me. But my daughter loves it and i wouldn't dream of spoiling her enjoyment of it. What does it matter if he knows or not that it is fake...they do know...they don't care. It entertains them in some way so they watch it. Don't be too quick to spoil his illusions and fun ...I know he has to grow up sometime...but it's not today.
