The doctor shouldve suggested putting you on birth control to regulate your periods. This would not only have made them predictable, but also an even amount of flow for those with super heavy periods. If you are on b.c. and this still happened to you, you NEED to go back to the Dr cause they are NOT working!!! Bless ur Heart! Good Luck! I get the shot so I don't even have to deal with a period...PERIOD!!!!

Similar thing happened to my mother-in-law, but she was a lot older than you (in her early 50's). Her doctors were not too concerned, and it didn't happen again.

It might just very well be your body finding it's own natural cycle. If the blood looks and smells like regular period blood, then this is probably nothing to be worried about. Many women don't achieve a lasting regular cycle until several years after their first period. It has everything to do with your body still not being totally used to all those new hormones that were unleash a couple years back. If the blood looks or smells like it was sitting there for a long time, then you need to see your OB/Gyn and give her the latest, and you would need to do it right away. If there is pain associated with the extra blood, then see your doc...

Go to a board certified gynecologist.

Demand a diagnosis. Ask them if the ultrasound shows any sign of fibroid tumors or anything. If it doesn't, ask for help regulating your period.

If your period is as heavy as you're describing you are at high risk for toxic shock syndrome. Do NOT use tampons when you're bleeding that much. You'll soak through it too fast and be in danger of shock a lot faster than you might think. Use Serenity pads if you have to.

Don't leave the doctor's office next time without a treatment plan, some answers, and some relief.

You need to go back to the dr, but this time find a different dr to look at this problem. Not one that shares the same office as the one that you have already seen.
