before the earth was as we know it, it was a giant rock. then it got hit with a meteor and it made what we now know as the moon and the earth.. does anyone know what the rock (earth) was called? i was told magrathea but im not sure

I think it would be called the Proto-Earth. That is Earth, but not properly formed.

I think someone is winding you up.

The Earth is known as the Earth before and after the meteor impact that (possibly) created the Moon. I don't think there is any commonly accepted name for the Earth prior to this collision.

The name "Magrathea" is the name of a planet in Douglas Adams' book "The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" where the population specialise in the creation of designer planets. The Magratheans created the first Earth and have been contracted by the mice to rebuild another. Slartibartfast is a Magrathean who specialises in the design of fjords.

It is in the nature of contemporary naming to have namers about when the naming occurs. At the time of the collision, there were precious few humans about and whatever name they might have given the planet has been lost in history.

As for other intelligent entities, we have yet to confirm their existence, let alone discover how their naming of our planet has evolved.
