My computer is 1 and 1/2 years old, it's one a friend built for me, and it works fine .. most of the time. Sometimes it has it's little fits, but I think that's more the user than the computer. And it's a desktop.

Mine is a desktop 5 years and a half, it's about to be fully damaged, it just works with difficulty, ports have become too loose they can hardly stand the cables weight, VGA simply goes on blinks, CD-driver and floppy driver won't work properly, it's totally so slow. I'm so tired of it I'm gonna buy a new one!

This is my main computer I built myself. Widows XP professional, 930Mhz AMD Duron, Seagate 40gig HD, 512Mb board ram, dvd,cd,r,rw,ect drives (2), graphics, sound and lan cards, mostly built out of left-overs. Can't put a birthdate on it but it is reliable, fast and trouble free. It's a desk top tower.

My son gave me his old desktop computer, with a Pentium III processor. It works fine. Use it for my writing, e-mail, IM, research, surfing the net.
But it may retire in a few years and collect CPP and OAP.
