Such as "mah" for 'my'? It's just annoying everytime I see this. And they call it a slang-abreviation saying "mah" is short for 'my'... I know it's so-called slang, but it's not even slang, it's just expressing the pronounciation of the word, but really, it's annoying...

The ones who say "may" is short for "my" are the ones with the problem. They can eat their lunch with "Jane who's called Janie for short" and "Beau who's called Junior for short".

Those who use phonetic spelling can enjoy each others company. That includes those who refer to a napron as an apron. Some degree of phonetic spelling is accepted even in formal usage.

I agree with you - it can be irritating - especially when I can't understand the communication. I think people do it to try and create a language 'unique' to themselves, and a small group, per se.

It's longer, but it's more easily pronounced.
