This soap is softer than normal soap. It can be "shaved" off for a small washing machine load, or cut into pieces for larger loads. You can use the whole bar for stubborn stains, and it always worked.....We had grocery stores called Red Owl. Super Value, Farmers Union, & Co-op

You can still buy this soap, at your supermarket chains, if you can not find fels, then I can suggest the one I am currently using, it performs the same plus whitens whites beautifully, it is called Zote' it is in a pink and white wrapper and smells very nice, I currently make my own washing powder with this soap by grating it finely and adding half cup of borax, it's been the best washing detergent I have ever had and you use only three tablespoons to a small to medium load, you can use a little more for larger loads if you like but it is not necessary, it gets the clothes really clean and bright and very soft, I don't even need any softner or white vinegar to soften, it's truly amazing this laundry soap, that too can be purchased at most grocery stores, I got mine from a liquidation store very inexpensive and it last weeks. Good Luck !

Oh my gosh! Fels Naptha is still on the market? I keep hearing it referred to in historical fiction novels!!

I don't know where you can buy it, but Sunlight makes a similar product. A bar of soap that can be used for anything. You simply chip or shave pieces off and dissolve them in water. Smells very lemony! It's also great for rubbing on laundry to get stains out.

The liquid soap craze is the biggest scam perpetuated on the consuming public in the history of the world. But I do use liquid soap so I can be more popular with the cool people at work. I like to stand around at the water cooler talking about how luxurious my skin feels because of the honey and wheat extracts.
