No, that's just Iranian propaganda. The USA is an enemy of Iran because it's madman of a President has said he wants to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth. He is at least as dangerous as GWB if not moreso. In the process of fighting with the West, the Iranian president will not think twice about sacrificing the lives of millions of his own people. Fortunately, it's a very young country and many of the Iranian people know that their President is a dangerous wack-job.

I never heard about 300 being propaganda against Iran, except recently from Iran. What if your message was completely hypocritical, and it was completely spoon-fed from a media source, and you have no knowledge of the Persian Empire? How about reading Steven Pressfield's Gates of Fire? or even Mary Renault's Alexander the Great books...you'll learn a little bit about the Persians. Now there is a distinction between Persia and Iran - I understand that, especially today. But 300 opened incredibly strong at the box office for many reasons, but specifically it is about the West kicking ***. It will do 3x better in Europe, where they have a much more considerable invasion from radical Islam(whose roots are found in the Middle East). Is 300 allegorical to the present day? ABSOLUTELY.

This question can only come from a country that produces its own propaganda. The 300 was based on first, an historical event where the Greeks beat the crap out of the persians, and then, and mainly, on a graphic novel (that's code for "comic book."
In answer to question 2: the USA is an enemy of any government that threatens the stability and safety of the world, that feels entitled to tread into international waters and kidnap Britons, that takes over an embassy for a little over a year without so much as an apology. The USA stands against tyranny in any form, whether it be Muslim extremists or communist aggression. We have been consistent.

Since World war, is well know that USA uses movies to influence behavior and as a massive and strong propaganda. We are plenty of studies showing it.
... BUT... 300 of sparta does not talk about Iran. Talk about Xerxes and is based on a comic written many years ago. (which is based on amovie and based on a historical fact).
They were persians and not Iranian. Argue regarding freedom and another foolish speech were naturally north american cliche (then, empty). Press did a lot of noise around this subject to push it to the manipulation side, but it is a consequence of a Oligarquic press controlled by few distributors and not due the movie.
Usa isn't enemy of Iran. Developed countries try to keep control regarding their poor cousins. Iran, like Iraq, has a lot of Crude Oil (Petrol) and once developed nations are addicted to the black gold, they must try to keep control. Free ditactor or possible fanatism can disrupt it then, no country can even aloow it.
Why developed countries do not interfere heavilly in other countries like Ivory Coast, Birmania or North Korea? There are nothing critical within. (Except for NKorea recently).
Just a matter of money. And reduce minace probabilities.
Of course, there are a lot of people that cannot see it and start to put on different levels and most complicated interpretations.

300 was made by a director, not the US government. Consider it like Salmand Rushdie's book Satanic Verses in the 80s.
I don't think the american people are against Iran, most Iranian's are great people. We just have a problem with governments that don't represent their populace.
Now why is G eorge Bush trying to start another war? Same reason Saddam invaded Kuwait, put down dissent at home.War causes uncertainty and that brings people together, at least for a while.

You are dead on, I always say I'm as American as Hellenism and apple pie. If the US were going to wage a metaphorical war against Iran, I think we could choose a better proxy than Greece. They just tore down a statue of Truman, all grumpy because 35% of their GDP is tied to tourism and the war in Iraq has hurt this industry. I would guess they are also grumpy that Truman's doctrine helped keep them from becoming like an Albania with an acropolis.
Personally, I hate Truman because he never returns my calls or letters. Whatever.

The movie is visually incorrect anyways. They used actors of African origin to play Persian roles, which I find is ridiculous. Persians do not look like Africans at all. In fact, many Persians have fair skin and Caucasoid features.
There are a lot of things that are wrong about that movie. Indeed, some believe it is even factually inaccurate.
The whole movie was just created for entertainment purposes. Don't read too deeply into it. =)

300 was not a state-sponsored film. It was a privately funded movie. This is not similar to when Stalin and the Soviet government funded Eisenstein to make Alexander Nevsky to get the Russian people read to fight the Germans. The US government had about as much to do with the making of this movie as they did with Happy Feet and Grindhouse.
The Persian Empire has been gone for a very, very long time.

The USA did not produce the movie "300". The USA, as a country, is not in the habit of producing films.

A better question is, why does Iran allow Hezbollah free passage and material support? And, why do many Arab people believe the propaganda of Al-Qaeda?
Tell the propagandist that the Crusades have been over for centuries.
