He called the Rutgers women's basketball team a group of "nappy-headed ho's."

It was the general reaction to this comment that caused MSNBC to cancel the television program. CBS radio is still undecided.

To a particular degree I believe you. everybody is overreacting. yet... i do not imagine this has as a lot to do with Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson or maybe race as everybody is making it out to be. A radio application remains a job. once you're on the activity, inspite of you do or say reflects on your employers. Now attempt to imagine of how many roles you or your friends or your associates have had the position they can make racially insensitive or sexist comments and smash out with it. in case you concept some examples, guess what? It replaced into both an extremely low foreheadjob, or you artwork on your kinfolk. ninety 9% of employers in u . s . a . will hearth you on the spot for making comments like that on the activity. the different a million% is going to discover themselves in courtroom and could lose business organization over it. So i do not see how they could probably no longer hearth him. Imus isn't above the regulation. he's not above some thing else those who've to cope with those with appreciate on the activity. What he suggested replaced into incorrect, no matter if blacks make racial comments or no longer, and his employers had no determination yet to allow him flow. interior an identical position, you ought to do it too. in case you probably did not, you would pay for it with important lack of gross sales. this isn't a huge secret. it really is business organization. Don Imus knew this, and he nevertheless made the comments. So no count number how a lot everybody overreacted, and they genuinely did, Imus were given what he had coming to him. end of tale.

The Sr. President of MSNBC; Phil Griffin announced that Imus show will no longer be carried by MSNBC as a simulcast. This after calling women for the Rutgers University Women Basketball team: "Nappy Headed Ho's".

I find myself very dispassionate regarding his dismissal; particularly when we the United States of America, play such a pivotal role in spreading democracy world-wide.

However; the derogatory term in itself is; racist; sexist; and prods on being homophobic.

The show was suspended, not cancelled. However, advertizers seem to be pulling out, which very well may lead to its cancellation.

*for those pleading foul, remember the Dixie Chicks being boycotted from radio.
