What's the difference between silicone swim caps and latex swim caps? Which one is the better?

Latex is thinner and stretches more easily. It also slides off your head easier so your hair is less likely to get snagged.
It's cheaper buy too.

I prefer silicone because it lasts longer and fits snug enough that it keeps a good portion of my hair dry during hour long swims in the pool.

So it depends on your hair and how much you want to spend.

As for which type of cap is "better", that's debatable. Some people are allergic to latex and that's a darn good reason to prefer a silicon cap. I find that latex stretches better and lasts longer than silicon. Silicon caps tear more easily and are more expensive. Silicon is smoother. Latex is cheaper. Silicon doesn't pull your hair as much as latex. Silicon is less stretcy and therefor enot as tight on your head which can be bad for competition but good for practice or recreational swimming. It's a toss up.

In my opinion, latex caps are more economical and user-friendly. But try both, it never hurts to have 2 caps!

Well silicone caps are absolutely my favorite when it somes to swim caps! they strech much more easily and you never have to put baby powder in them to make sure they don't snag your hair like you have to do with latex caps. the fun thing about latex caps is though that they are mych cheaper and can come with fun sayings on them. and a great place to find latex caps if that is what your looking for is at your local swim shop. they have caps which have misprints on them that sell for very cheap, these are usually latex, but you can sometimes find silicone ones!

if your looking at which cap to buy the deal is latex caps are cheap(usually about 1$) and work well, but they tend to pull your hair a little bit too much. what i suggest to upgrade and get that cap made out of silicone which usually cost about 5-10 dollars and they last alot longer and wont hurt your hair at all when you take them off. they are really alot better and u can pick one up at any sporting goods store that has swim gear in stock like sports authority or go to a local swim meet event. hope that helps =]

Latex swim caps are made of latex and are a rough rubber that can pull your hair out sometimes. these won't rip easily but are very uncomfortable. They run price wise between $1.50-2.65

silcone caps are much thicker than latex caps. i use silicone because they are much thicker and hold up way better!! and the silicon ones don't pull your hair!
