No; it is in-group/out-group behavior. This is a human quality that has good and bad repurcussions.
Think about any clique you've ever seen or been in. Men vs. women is just another clique function.
The only man I've ever heard of who bridged the gap successfully was also socially adept at joining all kinds of groups--my hero, Ben Franklin.
He spent most of his time with women, yet was welcomed and revered by men in their various groupings as well.
Go, Ben!

Actually, it begins with Pain, then Fear of feeling the pain again. Fear of those causing the pain. In order to stop the pain, the oppression, one needs power, the power to overcome the pain and the fear. After one gets power, they obtain control over what caused them pain. FEAR, is what mainly fuels all who will do anything to keep their control, for they fear loosing that control. They fear loosing their power, their status. They fear this because they ultimately fear feeling the very pain that started them on their path to power and control. This is the condition of the majority of humanity. FEAR isn't just the cause of the battle of the sexes, it's the cause of just about every battle and war that existed.
Just look at War. A) "I want more land because I fear we are running out of space, so lets take there's!" B) "I fear loosing our land to those theives, so lets annialate them first". The nuke is dropped. Everyone's trying to protect something out of fear, whether that be their ego, or their land, or what they believe in that they'll claw at anyone to protect it. Most poeple don't want to instead, be understanding, see eye to eye, and compromise.

No.
Selfishness is the cause and women can point directly at feminists to see who led the charge.

I see it this way both groups are not getting their way so both of you are sitting in your corners pouting; especially women! Don't you know inch by inch step by step? You get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar?

I believe I can break the battle of the sexes down into the following:
Women: "We DEMAND that we be put on a pedestal".
Men: "No."
Women: "Wahahaha can we send men to jail?"
