basically when a rival company introduces a product to compete against your own... the first thing you need to know is their campaign strategy. your products may have the same classification but u might be catering to different target markets.

basic knowledge tells us that market share is the measure of how well your product or your rival's product fare in the market.

after determining how they market their product and how they impact the market... u need to respond either trying to protect ur market share or trying to get into their market.
the best thing is always be a few steps ahead of your competitors. or better yet be the one to create a new market for your product.
