Most "mainstream" music is just boring. It all follows the same trends and patterns. The big record labels only sign artists that sound like the latest fad, so unique artists rarely get a chance to shine.

i be attentive to that some human beings delight in mainstream music, so i do no longer unavoidably have a topic with it. fairly a number of the artists I want are underground. the only factor that bothers me approximately it is the modern little ones who pay attention to it only for the actuality that it is mainstream. they do no longer care appropriate to the music and that they assume that because of the fact it is on the radio or television that those artists are the terrific. They exchange into ignorant and refuse to offer the different gifted artist a great gamble.

It's because alternative music is better. Right now the best guitarist (Jon Spencer) and best keyboard (Dustin O'Halloran) in the past 10 years are from the alternative scene. Von Bondies, Poets of the Fall, Devics, Jon Spencer's Blues Explosion, Boss Hog, The Mooney Suzuki, Manda Clair, Fisher, Red Delicious, Kelly's Lot, The Forty Fives are all much better acts than the pop stuff.

because those people don't want others to think they're sell outs and they want to look cooler.. that's why those people say that they are against mainstream music. those are the people who like an artist or band UNTIL they become mainstream and then they just decide to stop liking them. it's all very petty. seriously, who gives a **** if you like the ******* Black Eyed Peas. an example of this would be one of the people who answered above me.
some mainstream music is VERY crappy, but some of it is VERY good.. the same can also be said for underground so just listen to what you like regardless of what kind of music it is. .

Because the people that produce and market it care more about $$$ than the quality of music. If they can make a formula to sell something then they will.

yes everything HAS been done. i dont like mainstream music because they take over everything. the media knows how to control people and they use it against us. to make money for themselves. to give themselves power. and you all give it to them by purchasing the clothing the music etc. i used to like punk and metal and even a bit of screamo, but they all sold out. they let people like "good charolette" and "blink 182" call themselves PUNK! that is not effin punk! (yes...blink was a long long time ago) they come in and make it "cool" to do. you mainstream punkers and metalheads think your sooo individual and unique, but look around! You All Look The Same! you listen to the SAME music. Where the SAME clothes. your followers and posers and you make us, those who were around for when it began, when it was raw and real, look bad! not everyone likes "mainstream" music because it`s not everyone`s taste...would u consider bands like the sex pistols or dope stars inc. "mainstream"??? probably not!!! i just listen to what i like, sometimes it is, but usually it`s not, but i don`t care...i listen because of the feeling i get from the music, not because it`s in the top 40 charts or because other people think it`s cool...i`m not totally against it, i like mcr, fob, p!atd & other bands like that, but it`s not because they`re popular with other people...

I do not know about anyone else, but I personally dislike it because of their blatent disregard of how they sell themselves for money.
I prefer artists who sing for the passion and the enjoyment for their fans, not the money or publicity it produces.
