Some older style shower heads, were 2 piece, and to replace the head, you also have to remove and replace the chrome plated angle pipe that protrudes from the wall. These are easy to spot, because, once you remove the head, there is a large "ball" on the end of the arm, and it doesn't come off. Turn the pipe counter clockwise, until it is loose. Take the new pipe, and wrap some Teflon tape, and apply some pipe joint compound to the threads, and install the new arm first, then install the head second. Make sure you install the decorative escutcheon, in order to hide the rough hole where the pipe penetrates the wall. The reason for Teflon and pipe joint compound, is to ensure no leaks in the wall. You can't see inside the wall, so be cautious, and take the extra protection. This is a common point of leakage in most homes, and this is how mildew and mold start. Good luck!

I replaced the shower head in my bathroom just a few weeks ago and I never read the directions and had never had any previous experience with that kind of thing. They are pretty much all standardized so basically all you will need is a replacement shower head and a wrench. If you are really not sure about it you can always just take the shower head off and bring it with you to the store and have someone there help you pick out the best replacement for it. It is pretty much like changing a lightbulb though, you unscrew the old one and screw the new one in.

No !!! You have to replace a shower head with a shower head, you can't replace it with a ease. Okay, bad joke. Yes, all you'll need is a pipe wrench and a new head. Unscrew the old head and screw the new one on. they are standard size.

It's easy. Go to home depot and get a "gooseneck extension" for your shower head. Unscrew the original showerhead and screw in the gooseneck extension then reattach the original showerhead. Use plumbers tape to ensure that it doesnt leak.

The shower head just unscrews from the pipe. get a new one and just screw it on. Channel locks work great for this.

no, you have to replace them with another shower head, water won't flow through ease. ;)
Shower heads are universal, just put a few wraps of teflon tape on the shower neck when installing the new shower head.
