Don't lsay seek counseling. I have tried that and felt it just wasn't worth it. I'm already addicted and they say it takes 40 years for the brain to go back to normal, non addict - craving cycle. I'm pretty much screwed. Im not gonna be able to be sober for that long. I might as well just relapse now and enjoy it before I die. Someone help me..

OK Rob...1st you say don't recommend counseling as not worth it. OK, but how long did you go? Did you really give it a chance or did you just want to go back to the utility of drugs. The you give us the medical reason of the 40 craving cycle recovery...OK, I believe that. You say you're already screwed and won't be sober for the 40 year recovery...yeah, probably right. And hey, why not relapse and enjoy what's left of your mostly likely short life.Damn...sounds reasonable to me.

Then why the hell are you wasting my time...our time asking for help? What...looking for pity, the OK to OD, just want to convince yourself that it is hopeless?

Well too bad. I'm not buying what you're selling. People don't ask for help unless they want it. And you asked for it.

I don't have any miracle solutions. All I know id what has helpedand worked for people I know. You son't want to hear it but I know you'll listen.

Get your butt back in counseling. A program where they test you...frequesntly. Join NA, get a sponsor and listen to the guy...and make sureit's a guy. You might be tempted to manipulate a woman more quickly. If you have a faith, a religion go to it...even if you haven't been to chuch, synagouge, mosque or a revival tent since 1983...just talk to the people there...use them as another support system.

And finally...make a promise to yourself...because no one is going to expect you to keep a promise you make to them...that you will keep a positive additude, you will keep working at your job (or get a job), you will go to NA and any other group you join and stay the F**K away from any friends that use drugs or allow/enable/don't care that you use drugs.

That's a plan. Pretty easy....no. But it will give you a chance. If you feel I'm full of S***, fine, I don't care. If you just want to relaspe and go back to the utility of drugs...well I do care. You asked someone to help you...by God please let me or someone help you.

You obviously do not have enough self integrity to realise that your life would be better if you just gave it a chance without drugs.
There is no easy solution, but you must start somewhere, take small steps at a time and have the willpower not to give up no matter how hard it is. Yeh, life can be mundane, and it can be hard, but its the feeling of accomplishment, of working through the hard things in life that brings the joy and the reward.
The longer you take drugs, the less 'straight' life will seem appealing, it is a catch 22. Break the cycle, no one can do that but you, although you will find that when people see your efforts they will be there for you too.
I hope you take this advice and the advice of others, good luck...

Have you thought about tying into a local church. Becoming involved and participating. Reading the bible and praying.

I heard that it's an excuse for drug addicts etc.. I don't want to be mean or insensitive, but I heard that because you want to do it you do it and say you can't stop.
