My friend broke up with her boyfriend of 5 months, and then our friend started dating him 2 days later. He found out from some of my friends that her main motive in dating him was gaining some popularity, and he ripped into her on the internet to humiliate her. When my friends and I voiced our opinions and told him that was not ok, he insulted all of us- cussed us out, said the 'rule about hitting girls no longer applied', all this stuff. And our friend who is dating him does not stand up for us or anything, and she is not trying to solve the problem- she's not doing ANYTHING.

WHAT should I do? This is tearing my group of friends apart, and I couldn't stand it if we allowed a stupid, selfish, immature guy to break us apart.

To clarify, the friend who was first dating him (the one who broke up with him), was the one who was supposedly only dating him to get popular.

Just stay away from him. Don't even try to get your friend to break up with him - that will just make things worse. Don't talk about him to her, don't even mention it. Invite her along on your girl outings, but let her know that he's not welcome if you don't want him around.

Then again, your friend who was only dating him to be popular is a real piece of work, too. She used this guy, and you all are surprised that he's mad about it?

This just goes to show you what happens when you use people to get what you want. Your friend was very wrong to use the guy to become popular. Although it was wrong for him to dis her, she should have realized that he would be hurt when he found out. Some people don't just sit back and cry--they get even.

You talk about him being immature, what do you think using someone for popularity is?

Tell your friend that she is lucky the situation isn't worse. Maybe she will learn a lesson from it. Tell the new girlfriend that she better watch it, if she ever decides to split up with this guy. He will get her back!!!

You're right. Don't let some stupid guy tear apart your friendships with other peoples problems. Stay out of it all of you. It will all blow over.
