It never replace into the sturdy language of California! whilst the Spanish colonized the interior of reach individuals, they made them learn Spanish, even if it replace into never the sturdy language. different ecu communities have been right here talking their interior of reach languages too, to no longer point out the Indians had their very own languages. even however Spanish talking human beings may be (or are rapidly growing to be to be) maximum human beings of California's inhabitants, Spanish is surely no longer the sturdy language as a results of fact California continues to be slightly of the united statesA! recover from it, it is going to never belong to Mexico back, that's worth too lots funds for the U.S. to EVER enable it replace into Mexico. whether they supply citizenship to all of the unlawful immigrants, and that they vote for replace, the electoral college will basically pull yet another quickly one. Dream on!

You seemed so confident. Then I saw your name: WATZZZUP - evidently you don't quite know.

If Spanish is a language of greatness and economic prowess, why have all Spanish-speaking nations crashed economically?

I often think that the first casualty of the wars of the conquistadors was the self-confidence of the nations they attacked. And, by the cultural nuances laced through the Spanish language, they've managed to kill any potential resurgence of such confidence. For centuries!

I recommend now, far in advance, that if California really does become Spanish again, since it's clear that no Spanish-speaking govt will give one hoot in H3LL about your health and, hence, there'll be no welfare, medical care, housing...NOTHING - then I recommend you drop that slave-mongering language for English, Japanese, Chinese, German, ANYTHING but the language of the opressed.

Use your brain!

California is a State, not a country. The only reason there are so many Spanish speaking people is because of the border-hoppers. Besides, we don't need to learn Spanish. People can if they want. But I have to go with good ol' Teddy Roosevelt on this one.
"Every immigrant who comes here should be required within five years to learn English or leave the country."
– Theodore Roosevelt, Kansas City Star (April 27, 1918)

lol... yo bro Im hispanic and I prefer to speak english.
I was born here. And in california the ones that are only
speaking spanish is the ones just getting here to this
country. But there kids will prefer english also. Look at
the chicanos over there. Their spanish is so messed up
they also prefer to speak english. So no I dont think spanish
will ever be the official language. Besides if the anlgos learn
spanish that doesnt mean they are giving in to no one. It just means they are better educated or smarter. Maybe thats wat the latin immigrants need to do is better educate themselves.
especially the Mexicans and salvadoreans! YO SOY DE FAMILIA SUR AMERICANA Y NOSOTROS APRENDEMOS EL INGLES.

GOD BLESS AMERICA AND OUR TROOPS!!!!

as a Californian and a Hispanic I think your view is pretty skewed.

although there is a high Latino population in California it is primarily in the south and in central California.

Spanish has won nothing, English is still the predominant language of California and The US. and as such Native Spanish speakers (or any other language for that matter) should learn English.

I am first generation American and I speak English and Spanish, my parents and relatives all learned how to speak English and speak it well. why? because they understood English is the US language.

English is the language of this country, if you choose not to learn it then you are choosing to keep your self separate.

Believe me friend This "struggle" is far from over. If you would like Latinos to hold more prestige in the community you need to stop this ignorant talk, you alienate and discriminate with it. that breeds contempt and anger. If you want Latinos to hold a better place in society, quit using your bigotry and start using your head.

California isn't a country and Spaniards haven't taken over California, under-educated Mexicans have. When Spain invades California and dominates the STATE, I'll answer this question.

Look I have no problem with Spanish being taught in school. As a matter of fact Spanish or french should be taught to children from 1st grade. With that said. This is America... you see. ENGLISH is the OFFICIAL language you see. So learn it or be left behind... OK.... YOUR CHOICE.

Who "needs"? Typical ghetto reasoning. I think we know very well what we need, I think YOU need us to do that.

It's just that Mexicans are Catholic, so they don't believe in birth control. Quantity does not mean quality. I mean, there are more cockroaches than people in California, but you don't see them making policy in Sacramento.

And don't give us that "again" crap. Now go back to work, Pepe, dishwashing break is over.

yes, it would seem so. the schools are overflowing with non english speaking kids, the future of california. it is the downfall of the schools in california. we cant meet standards? its because of all the foreign kids in the school system who are illiterate in both spanish and english. its pathetic. its not a matter of taking a spanish class, these spanish speaking kids cannot and do not have any ideas of how to read in their first language, nor do their parents. thats the problem. and it will always be the problem. how can we allow california's downfall be due to literacy? lots of jobs, no one to speak or read english to do them.....sad.

Never, because California is in the United States of America and in the United States of America people speak english. I am mexican and I can speak both English and Spanish fluently without too many grammatical mistakes because I try and because I want to be an educated person. People need to understand that you need to know english and spanish, not just one.
